🏦 Convert Bank Statement to Excel Online Free — No Signup

Bank exports are messy: extra header lines, odd separators, duplicate rows. Paste your statement or upload the CSV, tidy it up right here, and download a clean spreadsheet-ready file in seconds. Everything happens in your browser — your financial data is never uploaded anywhere.

🔒 Your data never leaves this page

✅ No upload — parsed on your device
✅ Auto-detects commas, semicolons, tabs
✅ Edit cells & delete junk rows

How to convert a bank statement in 4 steps

  1. Export from your bank. In online banking, open the account statement and choose the CSV download — almost every European bank offers it next to the PDF option.
  2. Paste or upload it here. Drop the CSV file or paste the text. The tool detects commas, semicolons, tabs or pipes automatically.
  3. Tidy the table. Edit any cell, delete header junk, internal transfers or duplicates, and confirm the first row is your header row.
  4. Download and open in Excel. One click gives you a clean UTF-8 CSV that opens directly in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice — ready to sum, filter or import into accounting software.

💡 The short answer: why do bank CSVs need cleaning at all?

Under the EU's PSD2 rules (in force since January 2018), banks must let customers access their own account data — which is why CSV exports exist. But every bank formats that data differently: different separators, extra title rows, running balances in odd columns. A spreadsheet tool that normalizes those quirks into one clean table is the difference between an afternoon of manual cleanup and a two-minute import. That is exactly what this page does, without your data ever touching a server.

Why freelancers and small businesses clean statements this way

🔒 Bank details stay private

Server-based converters receive your full transaction history. Ours never does — parsing runs in JavaScript on your device. Check the Network tab yourself: no upload happens. Our safety guide explains the difference.

📊 Bookkeeping-ready output

The cleaned CSV imports straight into accounting software or a spreadsheet pivot. Reconcile it against invoices from our invoice generator and receipts from our receipt maker at month-end.

🌍 Any bank, any separator

German banks love semicolons, UK banks commas, some exports use tabs. The detector reads your first rows and picks the right one — no settings to fiddle with.

🧹 Junk-row control

Bank exports often include title rows, blank lines and summary footers. Delete any row before download so your accountant gets only real transactions.

📄 PDF statements too?

If your bank only exports PDFs, use our PDF-to-CSV accounting tool for text-based PDFs. Scanned image PDFs need OCR — see the honest partner option below.

💾 Nothing stored

Because nothing is uploaded, nothing is kept for you either. Download the cleaned CSV before leaving the page.

Straight talk: limits

📝 Text only, not scanned images

This tool parses CSV and pasted text. It cannot read a scanned image PDF — that requires OCR, which browsers cannot do reliably. Get a CSV or text-based export from your bank whenever possible.

⚖️ Not accounting advice

Cleaning a statement is not bookkeeping. How transactions are categorized for tax depends on your country and business type — check your tax authority or accountant.

🔢 Check your totals

After import, reconcile the CSV total against your bank's closing balance. If they differ, a row was dropped or a separator misread — re-parse with the header box toggled.

Bank Statement to Excel FAQ

Is this bank statement converter really free?

Yes — unlimited conversions, no account, no payment details. It runs entirely in your browser, so there is nothing to meter and no file ever reaches a server.

Is it safe to paste my bank statement here?

Your statement never leaves your device. The parsing happens in JavaScript on this page — verify it in your browser's Network tab. Still, only paste statements on a device you trust, and delete the account-number column before downloading if your spreadsheet does not need it.

Which bank exports does it accept?

Any CSV export and any pasted text separated by commas, semicolons, tabs or pipes. The tool auto-detects the separator from your first rows. If your bank only gives you a PDF, export the CSV version from online banking first — most European banks offer CSV, MT940 or OFX downloads in their statements section.

Will the CSV open correctly in Excel?

Yes. The download is a UTF-8 CSV with a byte-order mark, which Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice all open directly. Amounts stay as plain numbers so you can sum, filter and pivot them.

Can I delete rows and edit values before downloading?

Yes. Every cell is editable and every row has a delete button, so you can strip header junk, internal transfers and duplicate lines before the download.

Does it work for business accounts and bookkeeping?

Yes. Cleaned CSVs drop straight into bookkeeping workflows: import them into your accounting software, reconcile against invoices, or hand the file to your accountant.

What if my statement is a scanned PDF image?

A browser tool cannot read text out of a scanned image — that needs OCR. Ask your bank for a CSV or text-based PDF export first. If only a scan exists, a partner OCR service is listed honestly at the bottom of this page as an option.

Where is my data stored after I close the page?

Nowhere. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is saved on any server. When you close the tab, the pasted statement is gone — so download your cleaned CSV before leaving.

For scanned statements: an honest partner option

Disclosure: the link below is a partner link — if you use it, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It is listed only because browser tools genuinely cannot do what it does.

Our tool handles CSV and text exports. If your bank gave you only a scanned image PDF, no in-browser tool can read it — that job needs OCR on a server. PDF2Go's OCR converter can turn a scanned statement into editable text, which you can then paste back here to clean and convert. Only use it for documents you are comfortable uploading — for anything sensitive, the CSV export from your bank is always the safer route.
