🔀 Reorder PDF Pages Online Free

To reorder pages in a PDF online free, drop the file on the tool below — every page appears as a thumbnail. Drag them into the order you want, press "Download reordered PDF", and your browser rebuilds the document in that sequence. No signup, no watermark, no page limits — and because the whole job runs on your device, your file is never uploaded anywhere.

Every page becomes a draggable thumbnail

How it works: this tool moves the original page objects inside your PDF — it does not re-render pages as images. Text stays selectable, fonts stay embedded, and quality is pixel-identical to the original. Only the page sequence changes.

How to reorder PDF pages in 4 steps

  1. Drop your PDF on the tool above. The file is opened locally on your device and every page is rendered as a thumbnail — nothing is uploaded to any server. For large files, give the thumbnails a moment to appear.
  2. Arrange the thumbnails. Drag any card to a new spot (on desktop), or tap the ← → buttons on a card to nudge it left or right — the arrows work on phones and tablets too. The numbered badge on each card shows its position in the finished document, and the "New order" bar spells out the sequence.
  3. Press "Download reordered PDF". Your browser rebuilds the file with the pages in your sequence, using the original page objects — so quality, links and fonts are untouched — and strips document metadata for privacy as it saves.
  4. Check the result. The file downloads named after your original plus "-reordered", and your source file is never modified. Open it, flip through, and confirm the order — if something is off, come back and nudge a card.

Where page order goes wrong

📠 Scanned in the wrong order

Flatbed scanners and multi-feed jobs love to shuffle pages. Drag them back into reading order before you send the scan to anyone — and if whole sheets are sideways, fix them with Rotate PDF first.

📑 Merged documents need sequencing

After combining files with Merge PDF, the chapters may not flow the way you want. Reorder here instead of re-merging from scratch.

📝 Move the signature page

Contracts often bury the signature page mid-document. Drag it to the end (or the front, per your template) so recipients find it instantly.

🧹 Clean up before sharing

Pull the pages you need to the front, then delete the pages you don't want to share at all, and split out only the relevant range.

The problem with every other free page-reorder tool

Reordering sounds trivial, so most "free" tools treat it as bait: you upload your document to their server, drag a few thumbnails, and then hit the paywall — or the daily quota, or the signup wall. Adobe's own web tool wants an account before it will save. Smallpdf and iLovePDF ration free tasks. And every one of them receives your full document on their servers first, because the reordering happens there, not on your machine.

That architecture is backwards for a job this simple. Rearranging page order is a few kilobytes of bookkeeping on a file you already have — there is no technical reason your document needs to travel to a stranger's server and back. The upload exists because the business model needs it: quotas, accounts and data all start with getting your file onto their infrastructure.

This page does the whole job in your browser. Thumbnails render locally, the order is rearranged locally, and the rebuilt PDF is assembled locally with pdf-lib — the same open-source library developers trust — then downloaded straight to your device. No account, no quotas (there is no server to ration), no watermarks, and no copy of your document sitting on someone else's disk afterwards. You can verify the claim in under a minute: open your browser's network tab, drop a file, reorder, export — you will not see a single upload.

Reorder PDF pages FAQ

How do I reorder pages in a PDF online for free?

Drop your PDF on the tool above. Every page appears as a thumbnail. Drag the thumbnails into the order you want (or use the arrow buttons on each card), then press "Download reordered PDF". Your browser rebuilds the file with pages in your new order and downloads it — no account, no upload, no cost.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server when I reorder it here?

No. Rendering the thumbnails, rearranging the order and rebuilding the PDF all happen in JavaScript inside your own browser. The file never leaves your device, so there is nothing to leak and nothing to delete from a server afterwards.

Will reordering change my PDF's quality or formatting?

No. Unlike tools that re-render pages as images, this tool moves the original page objects with pdf-lib — text stays selectable, fonts stay embedded, and visual quality is identical to the original. Only the sequence of pages changes.

Can I reorder pages in a scanned PDF?

Yes. Reordering works on any PDF — scanned, digital, forms, or mixed — because pages are rearranged as whole objects. The content type of the page does not matter.

Is there a limit on the number of pages or file size?

No artificial limits. Because everything runs on your device there is no server to ration — reorder a 5-page contract or a 500-page manual. Very large files may take a moment to render thumbnails and rebuild.

Can I reorder a password-protected PDF?

Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before their pages can be rendered and rearranged. Unlock it first with our unlock tool (the password is entered and the file decrypted locally in your browser), then drop the unlocked file here to reorder it.

Does reordering work on phones and tablets?

Yes. The arrow buttons on each thumbnail card work on touch screens — tap to move a page left or right. Drag-and-drop works with a mouse on desktop.
